F. Timm McCarty, D.O. was born in Champaign, Il, and grew up in small towns in Eastern Illinois. He went to undergraduate college at Franklin College, Franklin, IN and then to medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated from medical school in 1966 and after serving his internship in Chicago, he served 2 years, 1967-69 as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1969 and has been in private practice in Scottsdale, since that time. He has served as President of the AZ Osteopathic Medical Association and President of the AZ Society of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He was Chairman of the AZ Foundation for Osteopathic Medical Education and Chairman of the Family Medicine Department at Scottsdale Healthcare from 2002-2010. He served as a delegate to the American Osteopathic Association for 30 years. In 2018, he was given the Life Time Achievement award from the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association Dr. McCarty has had a lifelong interest in sports, playing them when he was young, coaching his 2 sons in Pop Warner and Little League, and 11 years as team physician at Chaparral High School. Now, his favorite activity is following ASU Sports. He lives in Scottsdale, with his wife of 56 years, Marty. He has 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
